About Paul Mather
Paul Mather is an award-winning TV writer, showrunner, and creator.
I’ve served as a writer, producer, and showrunner on sitcoms for NBC, CBC, Fox, and Disney’s Freeform. Before relocating to the US, I wrote for and ran some of Canada’s most popular and acclaimed comedy shows. I have won 10 awards and received 8 nominations for my work, including Canadian Screenwriting Awards, Canadian Comedy Awards, and Gemini Awards.
I created a half hour live action sci-fi comedy pilot for Nickelodeon called “New to this Planet” (2022).
I was co-executive producer on DC’s first half-hour comedy “Powerless” (2017) starring Alan Tudyck, Danny Pudi and Vanessa Hudgens. (One of my episodes was the final screen appearance of the legendary Adam West.)
I worked with the iconic Michael J. Fox as supervising producer on NBC’s “Michael J. Fox Show” (2013).
I co-created and co-ran CTV’s “Dan for Mayor” (2010), which was nominated for a Writer’s Guild of Canada award and a Leo Award.
I wrote and served as showrunner for CTV’s “Corner Gas” (2004), the highest-rated TV comedy in Canada, winner of over 30 awards including Gemini Award for best comedy, Canadian Comedy Award, and the Writer’s Guild of Canada Award.
I was showrunner for season two of Freeform and Lonely Island’s “Alone Together” (2018).
I was co-executive producer on Fox’s “Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life” (2016).
I created and ran CBC’s half hour “Men with Brooms” (2010) based on the movie.
I ran the second (and highest-rated) season of CBC’s “Little Mosque on the Prairie,” which was nominated for three Gemini Awards and won two Leo Awards.
I was head writer for four seasons of CBC’s highest-rated comedy “Rick Mercer Report,” which won multiple Gemini and Canadian Comedy awards.
I wrote for two seasons on Canada’s longest-running news satire show, This Hour Has 22 Minutes.
